Getting Connected to God

God’s Plan for Our Life

I. The Holiness of God: God is holy by nature.

  • Deuteronomy 32:4 “He is the Rock, his works are perfect, and all his ways are just. A faithful God who does no wrong, upright and just is he.”
  • 1 Peter 1:15-16 “But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.”
  • Revelation 15:4 “Who will not fear you, O Lord, and bring glory to your name? For you alone are holy. All nations will come and worship before you, for your righteous acts have been revealed.”

II. Our Problem: Our sin separates us from the holy God.

  • Romans 3:23 “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God”
  • Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death”
  • Isaiah 59:2-3 “But your iniquities have separated you from your God; your sins have hidden his face from you, so that he will not hear.”

His Judgment: We will face the judgment of God.

  • Matthew 12:36 “But I tell you that men will have to give account on the day of judgment for every careless word they have spoken.”
  • Hebrews 9:27 “Just as man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment.”
  • 2 Thessalonians 1:7-9 “This will happen when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven in blazing fire with his powerful angels. He will punish those who do not know God and do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. They will be punished with everlasting destruction and shut out from the presence of the Lord and from the majesty of his power.”

III. God’s Provision: God sent His Son, Jesus.

  • John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”
  • Philippians 2:7-11 “(Jesus) made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death—even death on a cross! Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”
  • Romans 5:8 “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
  • 2 Corinthians 5:21 “God made him (Jesus) who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.”
  • 1 Peter 3:18 “For Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God.”

IV. Believe and Receive: We must respond to God’s offer.

  • Acts 3:19 “Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out.”
  • Ephesians 2:8-9 “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast.”
  • Romans 10:9-10 “That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.”
  • Romans 10:13 “For, Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
  • John 1:12 “Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God”

V. My Response: Prayer of Commitment.

“Father, thank You for loving me. Thank You for sending Jesus to die on the cross for my sin. I am sorry that I have sinned against You and I ask that You forgive me. Jesus, save me and be the Lord of my life. Thank You for saving me. I will live for You the rest of my life. In Jesus name, Amen.”

VI. My Profession: Share your Faith with the Church

  • Matthew 10:32 “Whoever acknowledges me before men, I will also acknowledge him before my Father in heaven.”
